Georges Hall is a suburb in the state of New South Wales. It is located 24 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district and has a population of 8,669.

History

The suburb of Georges Hall takes its name from a house and farm owned by Lt Colonel George Johnston between 1780 and 1823. The estate was located beside Prospect Creek close to Henry Lawson Drive. In 1809, the property went on to be an administrative centre to conduct the census.

Georges Hall is also bounded by the Georges River. The suburb is also home to the oldest remaining building in the Bankstown district. It’s called The Homestead and was built in 1837 in what is now known as Lionel Street.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

There are a number of schools in the area, as well as local landmarks including Dunc Gray Velodrome, The Reservoir, Lake Gillawarna and Mirambeena Reserve.

Bankstown Airport is situated in the district, along with lots of recreational park areas.
