Dr Mathew Sebastian previously served as chief of vascular surgery as well as director of the non-invasive vascular lab at Singapore General Hospital. He held academic appointments in two medical schools in Singapore and was adjunct associate professor on the faculty of the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School Singapore until the end of 2012.
In 2009, Dr Mathew Sebastian started working closely with Dr Alan Bray, recipient of the Order of Australia Medal 2018 for distinguished services in the field of vascular surgery, and founder of Vascular Healthcare.
When Dr Bray retired in 2012, Dr Mathew Sebastian, together with Dr Nicole Organ, took over and ensured the continued care of Dr Bray's patients. Dr Mathew Sebastian - Vascular Surgeon's practice includes the full range of vascular surgical and endovascular procedures, with specific interest in the endovascular management of aortic aneurysms as well as in expanding the role of endovascular interventions in limb salvage, particularly infra-genicular and ‘diabetic foot’ disease.
He is currently working with podiatrists from the University of Newcastle on several research projects relating to the evaluation and treatment of vascular disease in the growing diabetic population, with ongoing collaborations with the world-renowned vascular department at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas.
Dr Mathew Sebastian has a public appointment as staff specialist vascular surgeon at the John Hunter Hospital where he is training supervisor for RACS vascular surgical trainees and director of the vascular ultrasound lab.
