The up and coming suburb of Frenchs Forest is in the state of New South Wales and has an estimated population of 13,000. It is located 13 kilometres north of Sydney’s central business district and is part of the Northern Beaches region.

History

Frenchs Forest was once home to the Garigal Aboriginal clan. You can still find proof of their time spent in the area in the form of rock art, rock engravings, scarred trees and rock shelters.

In 1853, a man called Simeon Henry Pearce and his brother James came by 200 acres of land in Frenchs Forest. Their property was known as Rodborough and later handed over to a police constable called John French. He also developed the land, which remained rural during most of the 19th century.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The suburb has lots of trees, open spaces and wildlife. There is the big Forestway Shopping Centre at the corner of Forest Way and Warringah Road, as well as smaller shopping outlets and restaurants around town.

Local families can choose from a number of schools, churches and sports centres. Events in Frenchs Forest include Forest Funday held on Anzac Day and Eurofest at Ararat Reserve in mid-September.
