Fairy Meadow is a residential suburb just 4km away from the City of Wollongong. It is a popular tourist destination with a population of over 6,500 people.

History

Fairy Meadow’s beautiful name comes from a place called Ferrah Meadow which was occupied by a man named Connor Bowlen in 1824. Soon after, in 1841, two nearby lots were sold and a village was born.

With open meadow lands and a freshwater stream, it soon became known as Fairy Meadow on account of its ‘fairy-like’ beauty.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Fairy Meadow has a long beach which has made it a favourite with tourists and surfers. The beach also offers stunning views of nearby Mt Kembla and Mt Keira

There is a large shopping strip near the Princes Highway and the town is also home to the Puckeys Estate Reserve which has a number of walking trails open to the public.
