Erina is a suburb in the City of Gosford in New South Wales. It’s 7km east of Gosford’s central business district, and has a population of over 4,600. Erina falls under the Central Coast Council local government area.
History
A thriving commercial suburb, Erina became Gosford’s main hub in the 1990s. This was due to the opening of the Erina Fair shopping centre in 1987, which was first known as Central Coast Fair. This marked a decline in Gosford’s central business district, although urban renewal projects are now restoring the area’s prosperity.
Lifestyle and Entertainment
The biggest attraction in Erina is, of course, Erina Fair. It’s Australia’s biggest non-metropolitan shopping centre, with well over 300 stores housed within. It features a Target, Woolworths, Aldi and Coles, as well as numerous speciality stores. The centre also includes a cinema, playground, theatre stage, Olympic-sized ice rink, and many bars and restaurants. Various other shops are spread along Erina’s The Entrance Road, such as Bunnings, Harvey Norman and Bella Natural Food Co. The suburb is also home to Six Strings Brewing Company.
