Drummoyne is a suburb in Sydney’s Inner West. 6km northwest of the CBD, it is the administrative centre for the local government area of the City of Canada Bay. It has a population of over 11,000.

History

In 1853, William Wright, a merchant, whaler, and sealer bought land in the northern part of the area. He named the area Drummoyne Park after his family home at Drummoyne on Clyde in Scotland. Drummoyne in Gaelic means “flat topped ridge”.

The suburb lies on the peninsula between Iron Cove and Five Dock Bay. Surrounded by Sydney Harbour and the Parramatta River on three sides, it has some of Sydney’s best waterfront views.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

The main shopping area sits along Victoria Road and the intersecting Lyons Road. It features Australia’s biggest party store, The Party People. It’s also home to many restaurants, home stores, and speciality stores.
