Crows Nest is a suburb of Sydney, based 5km south of the city’s central business district. It falls under the North Sydney Council local government area, and has a population of more than 4,000. In 2015, Crows Nest was named as Sydney’s most liveable suburb by the Urban Living Index.

History

Crows Nest began life as a single house built by Edward Wollstonecraft. He supposedly named it due to its elevated location. Alexander Berry built a larger house on the original site in 1850, and the suburb grew up around it.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

A thriving area, Crows Nest is hugely popular with visitors and residents alike. A large number of bars, cafes and restaurants are based here; including the Stoned Crow, Kashiwa Yakiniku, La Grillade, Kürtősh, Garfish, Bean Drinking and Malabar. The famous St Thomas Rest Park is based in Crows Nest, featuring the grand cemetery and Sextons Cottage Museum.
