Corowa is a leafy suburb on the bank of the Murray River. The town in New South Wales has a population of over 5,600 people.

History

It is thought that Corowa gets its name from an Aboriginal word meaning ‘rocky river’. Other translations suggest Corowa refers to the curra pine. Indigenous people used the gum from this tree to make spears. Corowa was formally established as the suburb it is today in 1858.

If you’re one to enjoy the country air, there’s a 9 kilometre rail trail that takes you from the Murray River to the mountains. This is best experienced by bicycle.
