Based in NSW, Cooma is a town with a population of over 6,000 people. Cooma sits on the Snowy Mountains Highway and is 114km south of Canberra.

History

Cooma was first surveyed in 1840 and named a municipality in 1879. The Snowy Mountains Scheme arrived in Cooma in 1949 and set up their headquarters there. In 1959, Cooma celebrated the tenth anniversary of the Snowy Mountains Scheme. Cooma erected an avenue that showed the flags of 27 different nationalities that worked on the project.

Tourists can visit the Thredbo Ski Museum, Kosciuszko National Park, the NSW Correctional Services Gaol Museum and many other places.
