Condell Park is an urban suburb in New South Wales. It can be found 22 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district. Neighbouring suburbs include Milperra, Padstow, Yagoona and Bankstown, among others. It has a population of over 10,000.

History

Engineer Ousley Condell arrived at Condell Park in 1829 with 13 other settlers. This is who the suburb gets its name from. Charles Luzon, an Aborigine man, lived in nearby South Yagoona and grew vegetables that sold at the local market in the early 1900s. His nickname was ‘Black Charlie’, which is also the name given to Black Charlie’s Hill in Simmat Avenue.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Condell Park is home to a number of sports teams and facilities. It boasts the biggest basketball stadium in Australia; the Bankstown Basketball Stadium. Condell Park Football Club’s home turf is nearby Kinch Reserve. Deverall Park is a great spot for keen tennis and netball players.
