Often known as the ‘Parklands Suburb’, Concord is situated in the Inner West of Sydney, just 15km from the central business district. It has a population of over 14,000 people and is in the local government area of the City of Canada Bay.

History

Concord is named after a town in the USA which is famous for being the site of one of the first battles of the American Revolutionary War, the Battle of Concord. It’s believed that the name was chosen to promote peace between settlers and soldiers.

In 1793 the first land grants in the area were made and a council was established in 1883 though this was combined with Drummoyne Council in 2000 to for the City of Canada Bay.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Concord is home to many parks, including the Queen Elizabeth Park which is the site of a war memorial.

Elsewhere there is a shopping strip on Majors Bay Road which has a number of shops, cafes and restaurants with outdoor dining, perfect for watching the world go by.
