Based in New South Wales, Chatswood West is a suburb on Sydney’s lower North Shore. Located 11km north-west of Sydney’s Central Business District, Chatswood West sits in the City of Willoughby and City of Ryde. According to the 2011 census, Chatswood West has a population of over 1,400 people.

History

Established in 2006, Chatswood West is a young suburb. It was originally part of Chatswood. The suburb reportedly takes its name from “Chat”, which was the pet name of Richard Harnett’s wife. Chatswood West is known for its part in the infamous Bogle-Chandler case. In 1963, the bodies of Mrs Margaret Chandler and Dr Gilbert Bogle were mysteriously discovered on the Lane Cove River. To this day, cause of death has not been confirmed.
