Cabramatta is a busy suburb in New South Wales located 30 kilometres south-west of Sydney’s central business district. It has the largest Asian community in the country and a population of over 20,700.

History

The name Cabramatta comes from a local property called Cabramatta Park. The Bull family owned the house in the 19th century. A railway was built in the suburb in the 1850s, which was used to load and unload freight and livestock.

In the 1980s, Cabramatta was home to many migrant families. It was during the 1960s and 1970s when many south-east Asian families came to the area The suburb still has a thriving Asian community to this day.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Nowadays, Cabramatta is one of the most unique towns in the whole of Sydney. It attracts people from all different states and has lots of nice cafes, restaurants, shops and grocery stores.

There are many public gardens in the area including the main park, which is called Cabravale Park. Sports grounds, schools and churches can be found in the town too. Cabramatta also has an excellent train line to most Sydney regions including the CBD.
