History

The Darug tribe are the original inhabitants of Bidwill. The suburb takes its name from John Carne Bidwill. He was the botanist in charge at the Botanic Gardens. In the 1960s and 70s, Bidwill developed many public housing facilities.

Beenleigh is a residential suburb. Due to its proximity to Mt Druitt and St Marys, there is little commercial activity. In fact, locals need to travel to Emerton or Plumpton to visit the supermarket.
