History

Bushfires have affected Alford’s Point many times over the years. In 1994, many homes in the Alford’s Point area were lost in the Eastern Seaboard fires. On this occasion a large number of fires broke out in New South Wales. Bushfires also affected Alford’s Point in 1997/8 and 2001/2002, but these caused less damage.

There are a number of shops and services in Alford’s Point including a pharmacy and a hairdresser’s. There is also a dance centre, a community centre and two ovals. There are plenty of places to go for a walk in the surrounding bushland.
