Abbotsford is a suburb in the Inner West of Sydney, located 10 kilometres west of the central business district.

Abbotsford sits on the peninsula between Abbotsford Bay and Hen and Chicken Bay, on the Parramatta River. Abbotsford took its name from Abbotsford House, owned by Sir Arthur Renwick. He named his property after Abbotsford House in the United Kingdom, the residence of historical novelist and poet, Sir Walter Scott. In 1917 the property was sold to Nestle to build the ‘largest chocolate factory in the Southern Hemisphere’. Abbotsford House was used for the offices, and the factory was built on three sides of the house.

Following the closure of the factory in 1991, the site was redeveloped for medium density housing focussed around the foreshore park and marina. Abbotsford has a small commercial district on Great North Road which is home to a number of small retail businesses and a number of restaurants. Abbotsford is home to the historic Sydney Rowing Club which houses the award winning Dedes Restaurant and the Watergrill.
