Based in the ACT, Waramanga is a suburb in the Weston Creek district of Canberra. It is named for the Warumungu people. The suburb was established in the 1960s, and has a population of 2,597.

History

In 1920, the Weston Creek district was subdivided for soldier settlements. An early map of the district shows four paddocks. These are Weston Paddock, Track Paddock, Brown Hill Paddock and Oakey Hill Paddock. These paddocks made up the area that is now Waramanga. In 1968, the suburb achieved gazetted status.

The 2003 Canberra bushfires reached the east boundary of the suburb. However, it was slowed by residents and stopped by a contrary wind.
