FAQs

  • I have glass sliding doors and window shutters, can you service any of these for me?

Capital Doorworks only specialises in the supply, installation, servicing and repairs of garage doors, commercial and industrial shutters and gates.

  • How regularly should I have my garage door serviced?

Depending on its usage we recommend that you have your door serviced every 18 months to 2 years. Servicing your door ensures that the door is correctly tensioned and balanced which ensures it is quiet and easy to operate, and which can also prolong the life of your garage door motor. Regular servicing can also identify any worn or damaged parts which can be replaced on the spot, preventing a larger problem from eventuating and thus minimising the need for additional charges at a later time.

  • I'm thinking about motorising my existing garage door, but I'm wondering what happens if/when there is a power outage. How do I open my door?

Most garages have internal access into your home or a personal access door. In the event that you have a power outage you can obtain access into your garage through this door, pull the manual release cord (red in most cases) and open the door manually. If you do not have access into your garage other than the main garage door/S then we can install an emergency release device. This device can be installed at the same time as your motor or can be retro fitted to any existing garages.

  • I have arranged your company to install a new motor to my existing garage door, can you also arrange for a power point to be installed, if so, how much will it cost?

Yes, Capital Doorworks can supply and install power points. Prices will vary depending on whether you have existing power already in your garage.

  • I'm thinking about replacing my Garage door and have heard that I can only replace it with the same type of door that I currently have, is this correct?

Individual circumstances can vary greatly. One of the best options is to speak to us and/or have one of Capital Doorworks experts inspect your property. We will then give you honest advice and explain all the options available to you.

  • I have accepted a quote to have my garage door replaced, what do I need to do to prepare for the arrival?

Prior to installation your garage must be clear of any large items being stored, such as motor vehicles and large household items. We require sufficient room inside the garage to manoeuvre your door into position.

  • I've lost one of my garage door remotes and I'm concerned that someone might enter my garage when I'm not home?

Depending on the make and model of your motor, you can download your motor manual from our web site which will describe how to delete remotes from your motor. You will need to re-programme any other remotes that you still have and you may be able to purchase another new remote from Capital Doorworks.
