Gordon is a suburb of Canberra in the district of Tuggeranong, named after the poet Adam Lindsay Gordon. It has a population of 7,700 people.
History

The small town was gazetted in 1987 and features streets named after sporting stars. Woodfull Loop was named in honour of Australia’s cricket team captain during the Bodyline Test series.

Cave paintings and Aboriginal artefacts discovered in the area are believed to prove that the Ngunnawal people have inhabited the region for more than 21,000 years.

The first Europeans arrived in the area in 1820.

Lifestyle and Entertainment

Gordon is situated next to the suburbs of Bonython, Conder and Banks, and it lies to the west of Tharwa Drive.

As well as its own primary school, Gordon has a neighbourhood oval. It also features Point Hut Pond and district park.
