History

Settler James Martin displaced the Ngunnawal tribe when he built in the area now known as Weston Creek. However, it was George Weston who received the land grant in the area. In 1920, the government subdivided the land to settle soldiers returned from World War 1.

The area became a residential district in the late 1960s. Fisher was one of its first suburbs.

Fisher has a small local shopping centre. Residents must access other Weston Creek suburbs for most facilities. The Weston Creek area includes a number of sporting teams. It has a notable cricket club and men’s and women’s lawn bowls team. The area offers clubs in most football codes. Children can join Weston Creeks Little Athletics. Local students attend high school in Stromlo.
