History

Bonner is named after the first indigenous parliamentarian of Australia. He was Senator Neville Bonner, and he served from 1971 to 1984 in Queensland. The suburb is located on a former sheep property from the mid 1800s. Mulligans Flat Reserve used to be home to one of the town’s first schools. Now it is a peaceful residential area.
